Kenya to host 2025 CAF Women’s Champions League CECAFA qualifiers

Kenya will once again play host to the CAF Women’s Champions League CECAFA qualifiers, with the 2025 edition of the regional tournament set to take place from September 4 to 16 in Nairobi.

The hosting rights were awarded to Kenya following a successful bid by the Football Kenya Federation (FKF), marking the return of the tournament to the country four years after it staged the inaugural edition in 2021.

“We are happy that the tournament will be returning to Kenya after the inaugural one was hosted there in 2021,” said Yusuf Mossi, CECAFA Competitions Director.

This year's qualifiers will feature eight clubs drawn across East and Central Africa. However, member associations from Sudan, Somalia, Eritrea, and Djibouti will not field teams in this edition.

The eight teams that will take part in the tournament include; Top Girls Academy FC (Burundi), Kenya Police Bullets (Kenya), Yei Joint Stars FC (South Sudan), JKT Queens (Tanzania), Commercial Bank of Ethiopia FC (Ethiopia), Kampala Queens (Uganda), Rayon Sports Womens FC (Rwanda), JKU Princesses FC (Zanzibar).

Two clubs, CBE FC and Yei Joint Stars FC, will be making their fourth consecutive appearance, having featured in all previous editions of the CECAFA qualifiers.

CECAFA has scheduled the tournament to conclude before September 18 to ensure participating players remain available for their respective national teams, ahead of the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup qualifiers.

The winner will represent the CECAFA region at the CAF Women’s Champions League 2025.
